Snowy Deer

My favorite so far...
'Snowy Deer'

This is the second block in the 'Frosty Forest' series.
I'm not using the buttons...so where the snowflake button would have gone,
I stitched a female cardinal flying.
I love her.
I love the trees in this block too. The colors are gorgeous!

I can't wait to get the next block.

My sweet female cardinal!!

Our Christmas decorations are mostly taken down and I am a bit sad about that.

My Pooh Bear ornaments are put away. I've had this one since I was 7 years old.
I am happy that the house is less crowded though.
We rearranged the furniture back and I vacuumed all the pine needles up.
Now back to stitching and sewing!
I hope everyone had a wonderful New Years Eve and
New Years Day!

In My Hoop ~ and lots more

I can't show you all the things I'm working on because most of them are Christmas gifts...
but here is my start on 'Frosty Forest'.

I had to work my way down to the raccoon because I couldn't wait to stitch him.
LOVE

My recent purchase is 'Woodland Birdies' by The Victoria Sampler.  If you didn't know, I am a little bird crazy / obsessed.

I am going to try to stitch the owl for my son for Christmas. His favorite owl is the Great Horned Owl and this little guy looks like one!

Back in November I entered a blog give-away over at 'A Whole Lotta Latte'. Jacki likes to scrapbook and stitch too and she is very sweet and generous. She gave away 4 pieces of 40 count linen.
And guess who won...  me.

I'm so happy! I can't wait to stitch all kinds of things.  Hop over to Jacki's blog (she's also on instagram)  and check out her stitching. She is working on a Quaker Christmas design that is so gorgeous. I'm going to need to stitch it too one day.

Our Family Tradition
Every year we go fetch our Christmas tree in our 1958 VW Delux bus.

This year the kids talked me into letting them have a bigger tree. It's twice as big  as the trees we usually get. The deal was that they had to put the lights on because that's usually my job (and taking them off).

George Lassos the Moon

I finished 'George Lassos the Moon' and I LOVE how it turned out.It was super fun to stitch.  The pattern is by "The Sampler Girl".  She has some really cute patterns on her web site... here.

Remember I had started the pattern awhile ago stitching over 2, but it was just looking too big for me.

So I decided to start over stitching over just one. (on 28 ct)

I just can't even tell you how much I love the whole Christmas season. And 'It's a Wonderful Life' is one of my favorite Christmas movies.

I found the perfect frame for it at the thrift store!! The frame reminds me of 'Downton Abby'.

I do believe I am going to put it up on the mantel now even though it's pumpkin/Halloween season. I just love it too much to hide it until Christmas Holiday!

Start of Cardinal Winter

I'm trying to make two small ornaments a year for my little Christmas tree.  You can see the two I made last year here.... really, I made them this year, but we're going to call it last year.   I bought the pattern "Cardinal Winter" by Little House Needleworks awhile back. And since I finished my 'Very Scary' , I get to start something new.

A little magic trick I do....and I have shared this with my stitching buddies.... I highlight what I've already stitched in the crowed areas.  It helps my eyes and I can see right where I'm supposed to stitch next.

Here is a picture of this adorable pattern and my progress. I fell in-love with the birds and the trees. I am a sucker for a bird.

In other news~ We're dying flowers for Science. (homeschool)

You can see a bit of blue starting to show up on this first flower. My son is graphing the progress.

Tomorrow we leave for a friend's wedding.  I just had to show off my husband's artwork.  On my calendar I had written " We Leave on a jet plane" and drew a plane. This morning I sit down to read what we're doing today and I find this cute artwork under mine. He writes "Going thru security" and drew the people. It gave me a good, big laugh this morning.

Stitchy Goodness and A Proud Mama

Hello all my sweet stitchy friends. I finally put a back on one of my ornaments. I haven't stuffed him yet, but he is one step closer to being ready to hang when Christmas gets here. ( Have I told you lately how much I miss Christmas?)

But for right now, I am loving Spring. Here is my Christmasy back....

I received a new ornament pattern in the mail yesterday. I love this one and can't wait to start it.

I've been able to work on my HocusPocus Ville Block 4 a little bit. Here is the prOgress. I want to finish it soon so I can concentrate on some cross stitch patterns I've been wanting to do. Like the one above. :o)

So proud of my daughter. She applied for an award and won runner up. Over 1200 girls applied. It is an award of women in aspirations of computing. If you didn't know, my baby girl is a programmer and gamer. She is the one that helps program the robot for her robotics team. :o)
~~(she drew the dinosaur on her name tag~teehee hee). This picture is at the awards ceremony.

Her high school also had an award celebration. There were 3 girls from her school that won awards. NCWIT~National Center for Women & Information Technology

Here is my mom (her Mimi) and she at the award celebration.

I don't know if I am more proud of her winning or for her just applying. She applied and didn't even tell me until she asked if we could go to an award ceremony about 2 hours away. She said she was getting some award. I said "Heck Yes we can go!!" :o)

Well, back to studying hemostasis this week. This platelets are going to be the death of me. LOL

I Am Missing Christmas.

PrOgress on my Pirates Love Christmas. And a new pattern I bought from 'The Sampler Girl'. She had an awesome Super-Bowl sale going on. The pattern is called "George Lassos the Moon". I am a huge fan of Christmas time and the movie "It's a Wonderful Life".

I can't wait to start this pattern, but it will have to be awhile..... there are others that need to come first.

Lots going on in December

December is usually so busy, but fun. I have finished my shopping and most of the wrapping so I get to sit back and enjoy the season. I've been watching lots of Christmas movies and listening to my Pandora Christmas station. Baking goodies and making things with my son. I've stitched a tiny bit , here is the progress on my Mad Scientist.

I've only done a few stitches on the sewing machine. I made a cap for the robotics team with some cute appliques on it and appliqued a logo on my sister-in-laws apron. ( She is a hair dresser) We've gone to a few Christmas parties. Ate lots of food and went to see the lights.

The picture above is my daughter and my husband. Aren't they so cute! My son pictured below finished his "Build and Grow" train.

Lowe's puts on a "Build and Grow" twice a month through out the year. The kids get to build things for free while you shop. :o) We've been taking Jonah for a while now and he has gotten much better. When we first went he couldn't drive the nail in by himself, that was probably 2 years ago. Now he reads the directions and can build things all by himself. We just watch him now.

We've made bird seed feeder this week with a few of the neighbor kids. I saw this cute blog on how to make them. I asked my husband to pick up birdseed while he was at Lowe's the other day and he bought the kind with big sunflower seeds in them. So they aren't as cute as the ones on this blog, but they turned out. And I bet the birds will eat them anyway.

It is camouflaged, but here is a heart shaped one hanging in the tree.

This one is a creature who's head fell off. LOL

Off to do some more fun things today. I think we're going to go paint pottery and bake some more cookies. The owl cookies in this blog post by Tiny Acron. I love her blog. And I love when my children are out of school. <3

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

I've got my two Christmas quilts hung. One is really our advent calendar. I love this time of year! I've been watching all kinds of Christmas movies in between school work. We've gone to look at lights on the houses. I've had the Christmas music playing all day long, we've made cookies and wrapped gifts. And tomorrow night we'll probably head out to Bass Pro to see Santa himself. :o)

I have been able to do a little bit of stitching while my daughter is in physical therapy. This is my mad scientist coming to life.

Out side our door this morning on the way to P.T. was this little guy. Actually, he was a big guy and he didn't care that I got so close to him. (Pileated Woodpecker)

All he cared about was getting that insect out of the tree. He was just a beautiful site to see.

Next, I need to brag about my husband again. I know I do that a lot, but he is just an awesome and talented man. I saw a wine holder that I wanted, showed it to him and he made it for me.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful time this year too!

Tradition!

We picked up our Christmas tree in our bus, 'Rusty'. A tradition we do every Christmas season. It was much warmer outside this year then last year. We didn't have to ride with a propane heater in the bus to keep warm, just a quilt to sit on because the leather seats were cold. We go to the same little tree lot every year too and every year the old man running the lot tells us about the VWs he had owned in the passed. We get that a lot. :o) Hope every one is having a wonderful December, I sure am!

It's coming

Christmas Time Is Coming! I got my sweet advent calendar out that I made a few years ago.... Hung it on the wall and filled it will chocolate candy.

This is the advent calendar from the 'Bareroots' pattern. It is just adorable. I love it so much.

I might need to make another one day, seeing how I have two children and they will both want one for their children one day.

I've only started decorating for the Christmas season, but I had to get this hung before the first of December so it was one of the first to go up.

My little guy helped me fill it with yummy chocolates!

Have a wonderful and yummy Thanksgiving! I'll be studying for a test I have next week and hoping throwing some stitching in there in between. :o)

You can also it this pattern at Quilting Adventures!
