I've got to make this fast because my daughter is bugging / begging me to take you to the library.
I finally got a 'Wreck this Journal'. I am so excited about it and am having so much fun with it.
I have done about 5 or 6 pages in it so far. If you don't know what ' Wreck this Journal ' is.... it is this book ( see below), you buy it at a book store and on each page it gives you something to do to wreck it. So fun. I have already spilled coffee on one page. Burned another page. Trace my hand print on another. Stickered the front as you can see. It did come with the little squirrels on the front. :o)
Here is sneak peak at the next table runner I am making. Firefighters. :o)

And a camera cozy for a shop sample. Mary T. from work wrote out this very cute camera holder pattern, so I am testing it out.

Love it. Oh and by the way, the end of Sept the shop, Quilting Adventures will be having a ' gift idea' fair. !!! This will be one of the ideas. What a great way to get ideas for gifts to make for Christmas. So be looking for in on the blog at Quilting Adventures.

table runner and sandwich holder

Finished my vw bus table runner and put it on Etsy. I love how it turned out.

Here it is hung on the back of one of our buses.

Look at this cute thing. I just finished making it. It is from the book " Sew What! Bags" by Lexie Barnes. I love a lot of the projects in this book. This one is a sandwich holder. I hate to use and throw away all the plastic baggies we use up in the school year.
I am going to make a few of them so I don't have to clean the same one everyday. And I can use more very cute fabric!! This is ray guns... how cute. I have been wanting to make something out of this fabric since we got it at the shop ( Quilting Adventures). We also carry the 'iron-on vinyl'. I ironed on the vinyl before I made the holder.

PS. Quilting Adventures sells the book too. :o)

VW Buses

Love them. You might already know that we own 3. ( plus 2 beetles and 1 thing ). But anyway. I am making this table runner with 2 buses on it to sell on Etsy. It could just a wall hanging. I'll show the whole photo of it when I am finished.
The 'Tea Towel Tour' is starting back up over on 'Craftster. It's # 5. I am in , and there is a few more spots open if anyone is intersted. Here is my towel to send out. A VW bus of course. I don't think that's going to be my 'theme' because I want people to stitch what ever they want on it. But more buses would be great. :o)
Send outs for the Tea Towel Tour start the first week of Sept, so I'll be posting the stitch work I do on each towel.
Happy sewing.

stitching on sleeves.

I am going to enter two of my quilts in the state fair. Just for fun. So I have been sewing sleeves on the back of them. ( still not finished ). They have to have a 6" sleeve, which seems better big to me. But I am doing it. :o) I like to sit in bed and watch movies when I do hand work. My mom has been bugging me to rent the series 'Army Wifes'. So I finally rented the first one and I really liked it. I watched the first 4 episodes while stitching.

It's August .... here is my sewconnected 3 block for John for the month of Aug. This was a little out of my box. I would never have worked with these fabrics, they just aren't me and I never would have made this block. This is one of the reasons I like joining a quilting bee groups. It makes me work with fabrics and make blocks that I would never have thought of before.

Happy sewing!!!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here.

Remember the Christmas tree skirt I made?.. I said it looked like it needed some bling. I added some bling....

I added some Christmad tree lights. :o) Just to the middle.

And I made another block from the 'Welcome to the North Pole' Quilt. It's the Elves' Bunkhouse.

Here are all the blocks together.

Look what I got!! I have been drooling over this munki munki fabric for about a year or more. I saw a lady post a photo of some of it on flickr and I commented on it. She wrote me and ask if I would like to swap for it. I WOULD LOVE TO. So I finially have a piece of Heather Ross munki munki vw buses. I love them. And you know I just love vw buses anyway. And Jenni, the girl who swaped with me, has her own VW bus too. I wish she lived closer to me ( she lives on the West Coast ) , we both have sewing and VW buses in common.

I finished up the Christmas tree skirt, but I think it needs a little more bling. It's a 'shop sample', so I'll have to ask my boss. But I would love to applique some things in the big green spots.
Have I ever told you I love paper piecing? I do. I think it's because you have this jumbled up mess, you iron the last fabric on it, cut the edges off and then you have this perfect little block. It is so cool.

Here is the paper pieced block I made. I can't tell you what it's for.... it's a secret. But I had fun making it.

Hey.... maybe I should add a little quilt to the side of my barn. :o)

my dog did it again.

He chewed my iron cord in half again. Oh my goodness. My husband was able to fix it again, but my iron cord is getting shorter and shorter. LOL

Here is a little WIP, it's a tree skirt.
And Jenny of Elefantz is challenging us to make a sewing machine cover. I have one already so I just wanted to show it off. I love linen, so it's made with an off white linen and so Heather Ross fish fabric. :o) But hope over to Jenny's and take the challenge.

sewing this week.

I didn't sew a lot this week. It was a very busy week, we spend half of the week at the beach. :o)
I did finish another stitchery for my 'bareroots' camping quilt....
Saturday I took the Gored Shirt class with Monica. This is an Indygo Junction pattern. And Monica is a great teacher. Here are my gores cut out. I used a daisy print of course and a brown. I love daisies and I love brown.

We got to use the serger...love this machine.

And here I am with my finished skirt. I love how it turned out.

I did get my next block finished that I 've been working on for the 'Welcome to the North Pole' quilt. It is the Royal Toy Works / Candy Cane Factory / Hats & Mittens block.

We'll see what I get done this week. :o) Happy sewing.
