My Weekend

I spent most of the weekend with my parents,
enjoying their company, visiting family, stitching in front of the fire
and getting my taxes done.

My dad always has a fire going in the Winter and I love it.
I am still working on #3 of Frosty Forest.
I'm not using the buttons so I replaced this month button which was a white dove to a  stitched  robin.
Once I finish stitching the whole block I will post closer photos.

While I was down visiting my parents I got to stop by and see my Nana.

I hadn't seen her in almost a year. ( She is whom I get my young looking genes from. lol)
I actually haven't been to my Nana's house in years, probably 10 years. When I am down that way it is usually for Easter, Thanksgiving or Christmas and the family will get together at my Aunt's house or my cousin's house.  I remembered there being an old sampler in her back bedroom so I took the opportunity to check it out and photograph it.

Here it is, from 1843. It was hard to photograph without a glare on the glass so I had to get it at an angle.

The Sweetest Dragon Yarn Bowl
My daughter has started to crochet so for her birthday this year I had a yarn bowl made for her.
I found a lady on Etsy who makes yarn bowls and asked her if she could make one with 'Toothless' from 'How To Train Your Dragon'.
She said she would love to try.
(My daughter loves dragons and fell in love with Toothless when she saw that movie.)
The bowl arrive last week and it turned out so adorable...

His body wraps around the bowl. The lady who made the yarn bowl is Toni McPhee. Her Etsy shop is CleverClay and I think she did an amazing job!
My daughter loves him too!
The yarn in the bowl now is my poor attempt at knitting. lol

Stitchy Goodness and A Proud Mama

Hello all my sweet stitchy friends. I finally put a back on one of my ornaments. I haven't stuffed him yet, but he is one step closer to being ready to hang when Christmas gets here. ( Have I told you lately how much I miss Christmas?)

But for right now, I am loving Spring. Here is my Christmasy back....

I received a new ornament pattern in the mail yesterday. I love this one and can't wait to start it.

I've been able to work on my HocusPocus Ville Block 4 a little bit. Here is the prOgress. I want to finish it soon so I can concentrate on some cross stitch patterns I've been wanting to do. Like the one above. :o)

So proud of my daughter. She applied for an award and won runner up. Over 1200 girls applied. It is an award of women in aspirations of computing. If you didn't know, my baby girl is a programmer and gamer. She is the one that helps program the robot for her robotics team. :o)
~~(she drew the dinosaur on her name tag~teehee hee). This picture is at the awards ceremony.

Her high school also had an award celebration. There were 3 girls from her school that won awards. NCWIT~National Center for Women & Information Technology

Here is my mom (her Mimi) and she at the award celebration.

I don't know if I am more proud of her winning or for her just applying. She applied and didn't even tell me until she asked if we could go to an award ceremony about 2 hours away. She said she was getting some award. I said "Heck Yes we can go!!" :o)

Well, back to studying hemostasis this week. This platelets are going to be the death of me. LOL

Hematology and Family

I've been studying this... really only the left row right now (above).

This.....and this....

I have a huge test tomorrow. Not much stitching going on.

But during Downton Abbey the other night (2 hours) I did get some stitching done. In other news, AKA~ the family.... My little guy has signed up for the 'Science Fair'. I am so proud of him. His topic is Fossils, rocks and minerals. He has a little collection of them. Here he is researching fossils for his project.

(Sorry for the awful, horrible, evil desk photo, it is the hub's desk and he works with metal/oil/ grease/etc.... I don't go near this desk unless I need to print something)

My little guy was also in the Pinewood Derby Race this weekend. Here is a photo of his car. It is actually a VW 'Double Cab'. That's my boy. His Derby car last year was 'Herbie' the VW beetle.

And here is my baby girl. ( She is taller then me,LOL) She is on a new robotics team and loving it!! Sparky Team 384!

Lots going on in December

December is usually so busy, but fun. I have finished my shopping and most of the wrapping so I get to sit back and enjoy the season. I've been watching lots of Christmas movies and listening to my Pandora Christmas station. Baking goodies and making things with my son. I've stitched a tiny bit , here is the progress on my Mad Scientist.

I've only done a few stitches on the sewing machine. I made a cap for the robotics team with some cute appliques on it and appliqued a logo on my sister-in-laws apron. ( She is a hair dresser) We've gone to a few Christmas parties. Ate lots of food and went to see the lights.

The picture above is my daughter and my husband. Aren't they so cute! My son pictured below finished his "Build and Grow" train.

Lowe's puts on a "Build and Grow" twice a month through out the year. The kids get to build things for free while you shop. :o) We've been taking Jonah for a while now and he has gotten much better. When we first went he couldn't drive the nail in by himself, that was probably 2 years ago. Now he reads the directions and can build things all by himself. We just watch him now.

We've made bird seed feeder this week with a few of the neighbor kids. I saw this cute blog on how to make them. I asked my husband to pick up birdseed while he was at Lowe's the other day and he bought the kind with big sunflower seeds in them. So they aren't as cute as the ones on this blog, but they turned out. And I bet the birds will eat them anyway.

It is camouflaged, but here is a heart shaped one hanging in the tree.

This one is a creature who's head fell off. LOL

Off to do some more fun things today. I think we're going to go paint pottery and bake some more cookies. The owl cookies in this blog post by Tiny Acron. I love her blog. And I love when my children are out of school. <3

Tradition!

We picked up our Christmas tree in our bus, 'Rusty'. A tradition we do every Christmas season. It was much warmer outside this year then last year. We didn't have to ride with a propane heater in the bus to keep warm, just a quilt to sit on because the leather seats were cold. We go to the same little tree lot every year too and every year the old man running the lot tells us about the VWs he had owned in the passed. We get that a lot. :o) Hope every one is having a wonderful December, I sure am!
