It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

I've got my two Christmas quilts hung. One is really our advent calendar. I love this time of year! I've been watching all kinds of Christmas movies in between school work. We've gone to look at lights on the houses. I've had the Christmas music playing all day long, we've made cookies and wrapped gifts. And tomorrow night we'll probably head out to Bass Pro to see Santa himself. :o)

I have been able to do a little bit of stitching while my daughter is in physical therapy. This is my mad scientist coming to life.

Out side our door this morning on the way to P.T. was this little guy. Actually, he was a big guy and he didn't care that I got so close to him. (Pileated Woodpecker)

All he cared about was getting that insect out of the tree. He was just a beautiful site to see.

Next, I need to brag about my husband again. I know I do that a lot, but he is just an awesome and talented man. I saw a wine holder that I wanted, showed it to him and he made it for me.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful time this year too!

Christmas spirit

I know it's now even Thanksgiving yet, but I am in a Christmas mood. I've been watching Christmas movies on the Hallmark channel. I hung my " Welcome to the North Pole" quilt up.
I ordered our Christmas cards.... here is the picture that will be on it.
I've been making my own wrapping paper and wrapping gifts. We will exchange gifts at Thanksgiving with my husbands family. So I had to wrap some gifts really early. I think I will tie green bows on the packages.

And I started a new BOM. The December (Christmas) month. Phoebe, Jennifer , and I are doing the "Bareroots" BOM, " little stitchies". Look at those so cute reindeer.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

sick

I have been pretty sick for a week or 2. Not pretty, just sick...LOL. I've had a kidney infection and now the flu. I really have not been this sick since I was 15 years old. My point is.... I haven't gotten a lot of sew done and it's killing me. All I can do is sleep and lie in the bed. I am up now eating a bowl of chicken noodle soup , so I figured I would check 'blogland' while I ate.

Last week I did get the boarders on my 'North Pole Quilt'. I think the red and green boards make it look more Christmasy.

My husband got me a new car for our anniversary. He is a 1957 Euro Beetle. I've named him " Heinrich". For short we'll call him " Heinz 57". hehehe

And this weekend while camping I stitched up the latest towel I had from the Tea Towel Tour 5. She wanted our state bird or flower on her towel.

Thanks for looking/ reading. I am headed to take more medication and get back to bed. Hopfully I can sew soon before I go crazy.

"Welcome to the North Pole"

I few people have asked questions about the 'North Pole' quilt I am working on. I'm not a very good writer so I don't tend to give details about things. sorry. Here are some answers to some questions.....

Only 4 1/2 of these blocks are hand appliqued. I started machine appliqueing them on the fifth block. I wasn't having much fun hand appliqueing them and wasn't finishing it fast enough for me. I am having so much fun machine appliqueing them!! Piecing out the fabrics are the best.

The other quesions was... the pattern. Yes, there is a pattern. It's called "Welcome to the North Pole" by Piece O' Cake Designs.

Only 3 more blocks to go. The top block is more like 2. It is huge and has santa in it flying his sled.

Happy sewing. Amy

Progress on North Pole and embroidery

Here is a look at the progress on my 'Welcome to the North Pole' quilt. I am trying to finish it by December,..... I know your laughing at me. But I am trying.
Progress on my 'bareroots camping' quilt. Just one more embroidery done. A little wrinkled.
And another embroidered stitchery done.

Running to go work on my North Pole quilt, bye.

I am working on this for a person, let me just say....I don't like mitering corners. But I do think it's turning out cute. I found the little 'key' fabric on -line. Perfect for the boards. I'll show the whole thing when it's done.

Yeah, I finished another 'Welcome to the North Pole' block. The Ice Cream shoppe.
And I found this 'so fun' flickr group called " What I wore today ( drawings only!)". I've joined in and have been drawing what I wear everyday. This is my 7th day doing it and it's so fun. Here are a few of the days. :o)

Have a great sewing week!!! or just a great week!! ~~amy

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas around here.

Remember the Christmas tree skirt I made?.. I said it looked like it needed some bling. I added some bling....

I added some Christmad tree lights. :o) Just to the middle.

And I made another block from the 'Welcome to the North Pole' Quilt. It's the Elves' Bunkhouse.

Here are all the blocks together.

sewing this week.

I didn't sew a lot this week. It was a very busy week, we spend half of the week at the beach. :o)
I did finish another stitchery for my 'bareroots' camping quilt....
Saturday I took the Gored Shirt class with Monica. This is an Indygo Junction pattern. And Monica is a great teacher. Here are my gores cut out. I used a daisy print of course and a brown. I love daisies and I love brown.

We got to use the serger...love this machine.

And here I am with my finished skirt. I love how it turned out.

I did get my next block finished that I 've been working on for the 'Welcome to the North Pole' quilt. It is the Royal Toy Works / Candy Cane Factory / Hats & Mittens block.

We'll see what I get done this week. :o) Happy sewing.

North Pole Quilt

This is the ' Elves' Recreation Center'. I finished it today. I may still put some smoke coming out of the chimney, but that will probably be later when I add small details to the quilt.

Here are my 2 finished blocks together....

things I am working on.

I bought a new 'Bareroots' pattern, like I needed another pattern. :o) But I couldn't resist. I love doing embroidery, so I just had to have it. The picture on the front of the pattern isn't the best so you can't really see how cute the embroidery is.

I've already started a few of the blocks.
Here is one that I finished, it's the 1st block on the quilt.

North Pole update... I started my 2nd block. It's the elf's recreations center.
And I finished the 'Marble Shop' .

back from camping

It only rained part of the day Saturday. It wasn't too bad and we still had a great time camping. Here is a picture of the girls. ( the big girls ).

This a shop sample I just finished. I did not make the the stocking it self. Just embroidered it and added the cute white balls to it.
Here is a close up.....
And my new toy. I LOVE these things.....
Progress on my North Pole block. Lets see... I still have 2 marbles to applique , a little sign over the door and maybe the shutters. Haven't figured out if I am going to add the shutter's or not, I don't want it to look too busy.
