It's coming

Christmas Time Is Coming! I got my sweet advent calendar out that I made a few years ago.... Hung it on the wall and filled it will chocolate candy.

This is the advent calendar from the 'Bareroots' pattern. It is just adorable. I love it so much.

I might need to make another one day, seeing how I have two children and they will both want one for their children one day.

I've only started decorating for the Christmas season, but I had to get this hung before the first of December so it was one of the first to go up.

My little guy helped me fill it with yummy chocolates!

Have a wonderful and yummy Thanksgiving! I'll be studying for a test I have next week and hoping throwing some stitching in there in between. :o)

You can also it this pattern at Quilting Adventures!

sewing and a wonderful husband.

I have been making the cute little pockets on the advent calendar. It's the "bareroots" pattern called, " Christmas time is coming". I am hoping all the green and red fabric isn't making it to busy looking.
I also made some PJ's for my son using this awesome snake fabric. I love when I find cool boy fabric because there doesn't seem to be a lot out there. And my son is ALL boy. I bought this cool fabric at "quilting adventures". :o)

I finished up the binding on my "what is the color of Spring" wall quilt. It still needs a label and sleeve. I am going to be putting it in the Richmond Guild quilt show in Oct.

And look what my husband surprised me with. He just rocks. He is the best man in the world. I came home one day after he was already home from work and he had gone out and bought me my very own lightbox. I had been wanting one, but could bring myself to pay that much for one. He knew I had been wanting one, because I kept borrowing "the shops" light box. When I got home, I walked into the bedroom and there it was on the bed!! I was so excited. It's not even my birthday, he just did it because he was thinking of me and loves me. :o)

I think I am back

We are back from the beach. What a great time we had, but there in no place like home. :o) The house is a mess though , I have laundry to the ceiling and more bags to unpack. This is the worst part of taking a vacation... the cleaning up after wards.

I did get some quilting and stitching done on the trip. I finished hand quilting my "What's the color of Spring?" wall hanging. Now I need to bind it, put a sleeve on it, and add a label.

Here is my progress on my stitcher's angel project. I still need to add the french knots to the center of the flowers. It is taking me longer then I thought it would.

And here are some more of the pockets done for my advent calender. I am up to day 21. I will probably start picking out fabric for the calender soon, maybe even today. :o)

It's good to be home. Now for my crazy week ahead. My baby starts kindergarten in 2 days. Wish me luck.

Advent Calendar

I have been in embroidery mode for the last week. No machine sewing. I just can't seem to want to machine sew right now. I do go through fazes like that.
I've been working on my advent calendar.
oops.. I skipped # 9. I'll post a pic of that one another day.
All the white... the sheep, the tops of the mittens and on the soldier are painted with white fabric pant. White crayon just doesn't show up enough.
More to come later..I am headed to bed to stitch some more. Hopefully tomorrow I will feel like getting back on the machine. I have a shop sample I need to be working on. :)

Yoda May

Yoda May is my beetle I got for Mother's Day this year. My hubby is going to fix her up for me. She is a '65. Jeremy, my husband pulled her frame off the floor pan tonight......
And he thinks she is going to be WAY MORE WORK THEN HE THOUGHT. But I still want him to try to save her. She is so cute .....and ....rusty.
Here is her little shell body. The work begins... for Jeremy.
I stitched up 4 of my advent calendar days today. I love how they are turning out.
And I tried a little machine quilting with the gloves....it is easier with the gloves on.

lots of embroidery, yah

I finished embroidering my "What Color is Spring?" wall hanging. I started to hand quilt it, but now I remember that I don't like to hand quilt, so I think I am going to finish it up by machine quilting it.

Here are a few more detailed pics of the embroidery. The pattern is from "Bareroots". www.bareroots.com.

Here is my new project from Bareroots... It's called "Christmas Time is Coming". It is an avent calendar so I am hoping to get it done by December. Hahaha or Hohoho.
I've copied a few of the days and started to color them in with crayon. This has been really fun. I've done 5 while watching the Olympics. After you color them in, you iron them to get the excess crayon off, (not directly with the iron, you need to put a cloth in between the iron and the crayon.) Then you embroider them, the really fun part. I'll be posting progress here. :o)

I am also still machine quilting my "strips n curves" quilt. I bought some machine quilting gloves the other day from " Quilting Adventures". (www.quiltingadventures.com). I am hoping it will make the quilting a little easyer. I haven't tried them yet though, I've been waiting for this headache to go away. It's just more relaxing to embroider in bed right now.
