our camping trip to Washington D.C.

Was absolutely fabulous. We had the best time. We got to see where the president lives. :o)

and see him take off in his helicopter.
My children in the blooming cherry blossom trees.
We camped in MD @ Greenbelt state park. It was beautiful and peaceful.
We went up and saw Lincoln in he chair. :0) And went to a few of the Smithsonians. They were awesome. I kept thinking.... I can't believe this is free.
And on another note.... here is the other wall in Jonah's room where he drew his prehistory sea monsters and I painted them in. He even spelled out "sea - monsters" and wanted me to paint that too. My sweet boy.

this week.

Some new fabric for a new project. I am going to make a 'sort-of' I Spy quilt. But I am going to use my son's drawings and magnify glasses.

Here are his little drawings and they are all over the house. He draws all the time. ( the big smiling lizard is my drawing.) :o)
Easter gifts for the kids..... travel pillows and cases for when we go camping.
I don't know if I ever showed a photo of my finished "flower quilt". Here it is , very hard to see the detailed embroidery work on it. This quilt is on it's way to NC, to Chihuahua Rescue and Transport. They are having raffles to raise money and I donated this quilt.
And here is my new toy... my new teardrop trailer. Hubby and I will be going to pick her up next weekend. I can't wait to make curtains and a quilt to go inside. :o)

just have to paint

Sometimes I just have to paint. I think it's another creative outlet for me. I get this urge and I have to paint something. My house pays for it.
Jonah and I saw this kids magazine , it's a boys room with dinosaurs painted on the walls. We both loved it.
Here is one of Jonah's walls now. He drew out the dinosaurs and I did the paintings.
The only dinosaur I drew was the flying one, I don't know how to spell the name of that thing.
One another wall we are going to do the ocean with prehistoric sea creatures in it.

another Bareroots pattern

I bought this pattern a year ago at the quilt show. I figured it was time to make it. :o) It is another 'Bareroots' pattern. I love their patterns.
Here is the progress I've made on it. It is a little dark because I took the photo at night. And I know it looks like it says "sexx" right now, but it is "sew". That "w" sure looks like two x's. LOL

my teenager

My teenager says this is the new trend. I believed her and let her cut her hair. ..... I shaved the side of my head in high school so I figured I would let her do what she wants with her hair, it will grow back. I think she looks like the statue of Liberty.
More spider web weaving....:o)
Oh ... and I finished the binding on my flower quilt. Ziggy , the new dog thinks it is his, I lied it on the floor to take a photo and he curled up on it like he owned it. Very cute.

Made 4 more spider web sections.
finished quilting my 'flower quilt'. I just need to put the binding on.

on the road row robin? and ziggly.

I finished my cute little "on the road" pattern. I love it so much. But I love anything to do with camping. I am thinking of using it as part of my 'row robin' we are starting in my quilting group. I could have a camping theme going.
This is the only reason I don't like paper piecing .... pulling off the paper....
Here is another thought on my 'row robin' . I was thinking of using this line of fabric. ( which I don't know what it is called right now). I just love the colors though.
And Here is my foster puppy. He is a chihuahua mix, named Ziggy. I've been calling him Ziggly. He is the cutest and sweetest thing. I will be so sad to see him go when they find him a 'forever home'.

a new iron and stuff

I had to go out and buy a new iron because my old iron.....
did this....
The cord catch fire in my hand. Hubby is out of town, so yesterday ( the day it happened) was not a good day for me. I am doing better today though. But I couldn't sew without an iron, so I ran out to Target and bought a new one.

Today I finished a lot more of my surprise for a friend. hehehe
And I worked on my paper piecing " on the road" pattern. Remember the one I got from the quilt show with the very cute camper trailer on it. :o)
I wanna camp so much , I am having camping withdrawal.

quilt show goodies

So this is what I bought at the quilt show Sunday. Only 3 things. The ant fabric is for my picnic quilt. And the 2 patterns are tiny. One finishes 15 X 20" and the other 11 1/2 X 15 1/2". You know I am a camping freak so I had to get the camper. :o)

Snow/Sew day

A tiny sneak peak of a project I started. It is a gift so I can't show it because I think the person it is for may read my blog. Aren't the ants cut. This is from the Jay Mcaroll line.

I made my first block from the "sewconnected 3" group. This block it for Sew-Do-I. I had to add the white boarder because I made the block 12 " and it was suppose to be 12.5".
We had a snow storm last night. I am not sure how many inches of snow we got, but school was out today and will be tomorrow. Which I love, I love when my kiddies get to stay home with me.
And the Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival was this weekend. YEAH. I love going to quilt shows. I only bought 2 patterns which I will post later and a fat quarter of ant fabric for my sew connected 3 quilt.
Here is a bit of my favorite quilt at the quilt show. This is hand appliqued, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. It is gorgeous.

PS, My brother LOVED his quilt. Thank you for all the wonderful complements on it.
