Lots of Finishes

High five... I finished HocusPocusVille block 6.
My son drew up another picture, this time for his aunt Becca. Her birthday is today and we made her a birthday gift.  She loves 4 leaf cloves and bunnie rabbits and we think (hope) her favorite color is green.

My son wanted a sleeping bag for his very favorite stuffed animal, Mr. Gecko. He takes the lizard (gecko) everywhere.... even into surgery went he had ear surgery. Anyway, he picked out fabric and a zipper.

He picked out a dinosaur minki fabric of the inside so it would be soft for Mr. Gecko.  (Shark is sharing the sleeping bag today with him)

I've also made a Kindle cover this week. I got the tutorial from 'Clover and Violet'.  Here is a photo of the front.....

The inside.....

And the whole outside.....

An Observation

I didn't stitch a stitch riding in the car to NC on Friday morning. We didn't make it camping and I'm so upset about it I could still cry thinking about it. All I'll say is Jaws is not doing well and we couldn't get there. So we decided to take the car and head to my husband's parents to visit for the weekend. Since we were already packed and he had Friday off anyway. It was a great visit with family. On the way back I was ok enough to do some stitching. I can't cross stitch in the car because my needle moves too much and I loss my place. Plus it is too much to try to follow a pattern in a bumpy moving car. I can embroider though. The lines are already on the fabric so I don't have to keep looking at a pattern. It is just lot easier.  Here is how much I got finished on the trip home.  Only a few placed left to stitch and I'll be finished with HocusPocusVille #6...

The observation is.... NC roads are much smoother then Va roads.  I stitched and stitched while traveling home on NC roads, but once we crossed the Va line I could tell a big difference.  I could hardly get my needle still enough to stick it in the correct place.  And the reason my whole HocusPocusVille #6 isn't finished is because of the Va roads.  I had enough time to finish , but my stitches were looking like a 3 year old stitched them.  So I put my embroidery away and here is what is left to do.

Our next campout is in 3 weeks. Please sent some good vibes and prayers our way for my hubs to figure out what is happening to Jaws.  I am having camping withdrawals!

Getting Ready To Camp

We'll be leaving for High Country Bus Festival in less then 24 hours.   I've made new pillow cases for the trip.  So I did finally sit down to my sewing machine this week and sew.
Jaws, our bus has new back curtains. Sharks!!  Which I want to stitch, paint, or applique little 'frikin laser beams' on their heads so bad. LOL

I've added magnets to each corner to hold them down better. This will help the light from coming in in the morning.  Sleeping in!!  In the picture it is hard to tell what is going on, but it is the bottom left corner of the curtain and the magnet is stuck to the metal side of the bus.

Here is prOgress on #6 HocusPocusVille...

I added the owl's eyes to 'Very Scary'. I'd never beaded before and there are no directions in the pattern to tell you how to attach them so I 'just winged it'.   I've also never used a beading needle before....wow, that thing is bendable, not like an embroidery needle at all.   I've started the Bonus pattern in part 1 while I UNPATIENTLY wait for part II to come out.

Look what came in the mail today! I don't buy many magazines...I think the last one I bought was the Christmas Just CrossStitch from last year in the Fall, but I couldn't resist.

This is the pattern that made me want the magazine so much.  But let me tell you.... there are some many cute Halloween pattern's in the magazine that I'll never have time to stitch them all. Just adorable!

Camping Bound...... happy stitching.

Halloween Mystery Sampler ~ Very Scary (Spoiler Alert)

Pictures to give you a warning again. At the end of the post I have a picture of my finished part 1 Halloween Mystery Sampler. So if you are working on your and don't want your surprise to be ruined.... well, you know.

I love black-eyes Susans.

On NPR the other day my son and I heard a story about a marine biologist who saved an orphan seal and wrote a book to tell the story.  We checked the book out today at the library and I am hoping to find time to read it to him this Summer.  Wish me luck!
What are you reading this Summer?

So to remind you of what the part 1 package looked like, so cute.  And remember I changed a lot of my colors to look darker and spookier.  I did mess up a bit on the owl placement, but it turned out good because there was a bright yellow box around that brown leaf (supposed to be orange leaf). I ended up not adding it.... it would have been crowed there and too bright.  I haven't added the beads for the eyes yet because my embroidery needle is too thick to go through the beads. I need to find a beading needle.  So once I add the beads to the eyes, it will tone the eyes down.

If you want to see a finished part 1 with the correct colors you can go to Wicked Stitchers blog.   You can see how much lighter and brigher her's is and see the big bright yellow box I left out around the leaf.  Her's looks GREAT!

Too Hot to Sew

I have not been in the mood to touch my sewing machine. I think it is the heat. My machine was up stairs and I really didn't want to go up there, so I brought it down stairs and put it on the kitchen table.  But still nothing, I have to force myself to use it.   I really want to start the Mario Brother's SAL over on Cut To Pieces blog, but I am scared to buy the materials right now because of my lack at sewing machine interest.

I have been hand stitching though. :o)  Always!   I put a photo up of my kiddos with their free slurpees from 7-11 on 7-11 just so I could give you warning again that I am about to post a  photo of the mystery sampler "Very Scary".   So if you are working on this adorable Halloween mystery sampler and don't want to have your surprise spoiled.....look away, look away!!

I've stitched up the tree and added some Fall leaves. I made my leaves less bright than the pattern called for.  We've got black crows. My owl still have no eyes.  The eye are supposed to be yellow, but I am scared yellow might be too bright for me. I'm not sure what I'll do yet for those eyeballs.  I've stitched up the pumpkins also, they are adorable, but I'll post a picture of the whole thing when I am finished stitching the whole part 1.

And for those who are interested in why I am homeschooling my son.....I put a tap up on my homeschooling blog saying why. Here is the link : http://blueoceansharksschool.blogspot.com/p/why-i-am-homeschooling.html

Happy Stitching!!

PrOgress on Mystery Sampler

I started my Lizzie*Kate Mystery Sampler "Very Scary". I am loving it!!    Here is part 1 's package.   I am going to show a bit of my progress at the end of this post, so I am warning you now.... do not look at the last picture if you have not stitched yours and want the surprise.
I don't want to ruin any one's surprise.  I stitched a little in the park the other day while my tiny man played. He took this photo of me.

A picture to warn you again to look away if you do not want to see progress on the mystery sampler.

(Geico our gecko)

Here are my colors.... aren't they to die for?!

And here you go....  no flash was used so it looks dark and evil. :o)  I am changing my colors up a bit..... getting rid of all the bright colors and going for a more evil, scary look.   More progress pics later.

Happy Stitching!!

Stitching

I am so excited.... I picked up my part I of Lizzie*Kate's  Mystery Sampler "Very Scary".  There will be 3 parts and it's all a mystery so I won't be able to show much when I start stitching but I will give you sneak peeks.  Oh... and I will be changing up some of my colors because I want mine to look a little more scary. :o)

Here is a peek of my HocusPocusVille block #6....  I do have a Halloween theme going on.

It is around 100 degrees today so it was nice to stitch some snow. I ended up finishing my January block for my BOM.
