all over the place

This post is all over the place, I have been so busy. But first.... here is the reason that I am not sewing this weekend! My baby chihuaha, Basil, the dog that I think is really a baby pit bull, has chewed through my iron cord. My wonderful husband says he can fix it, yeah. ( it wasn't plugged in when this happened) The dog is still alive.

Class of 1988! We had a mini reunion at my girl friend's house. I am on the right end, and the girl next to me in the blue dress is Tiffany. She and I have been best friend since the 9th grade. The girl next to her, Jennifer, she and I have been really really good friends since the 10th grade!! What wonderful friends. I am hoping we get together more often.

I finished up the baby cowboy boot quilt for Tiffany, my girlfriend in the picture above. She loved it thank goodness.

And playing with fabric and fabric paint. I call this: Jonah's aquarium. My son is a freak about sea creatures or anything to do with the water, ocean or river.

It wasn't that easy to paint on fabric. Has anyone else done this? Maybe I need to water my paints down more. I used pebeo Setacolor paints. I would love some advice on this.

I was at my sit and stitch with the girls tonight working on my spider web quilt. I come home and jump on the computer to go blog surfing , I click on Crazy mom Quilts and she has been working on a spider web quilt too!!! She is much farther along on her's then I am on mine though. I can't wait to see her's done.

Here is a new quilt I am starting with my 'Happy Camper' fabric. Wonky star campers!!!

In the last week I started my next block for my "Welcome to the North Pole" quilt. This block is called Royal Toy Works/Candy Cane Factory / Hat & Mittens. Long name! I found some really cute mitten fabric for the Hat & Mitten building.

I started and finished a cute little Summer skirt. Heather Ross mermaid fabric! Thank you Monica for helping me.
And finished the top for the cowboy boot baby quilt. I am going to embroider the baby 's name and date he was born on there before I sandwish it together and quilt it.

Happy sewing!!! for all of you that sew!!!

Tie-Dye class

The kids took at tie-dying class at the shop the other day. The shop being Quilting Adventures. Moncia taught the class, she is such a great teacher. Here are the kids T-shirts all ready for the dye. They each rolled their shirts up a different way.....

Here they are dying.... Shelby used the colors red and blue.

Jonah used the colors green, yellow, and red.

Finished putting the dye on..... now the wait. They had to wait 24 hours until they could open them up and see the cool design.

But the wait was worth it. Didn't they turn out so great? Both of them are so excited about how the shirts turned out.

Cheryl's daughter took the class too. You can see how cute her T-shirts turned out too. They all turned out so great. Thank you Moncia for teaching the class.

The weekend

This is what I got done over the weekend.... My Mr. & Mrs. Claus's house block from the "Welcome to the North Pole" book . Pattern by Piece O' Cake Designs. I think this is my 4th block finished. I'd like to have it done by December so I can hang it on the wall for Christmas.

Two embroideries done for my camping quilt. This one is from a "bareroots" pattern.

And I started a new quilt today. My best friend from high school has been begging me for years and years to make her a quilt. She asked again the other day and I finially gave in. She wants a cowboy boot quilt. I told her I would only do a crib size. This is what I have so far.

I took the kids to make tie-dye T-shirts today at the quilt shop, Quilting Adventures. Monica taught them and they had so much fun. The shirts are still in the bag waiting 24 hours before we can open them. So my next post will probably be the results of the cool tie-dye class. Thanks Monica, your a great teacher.

2 finished

I finished quilting the picnic quilt. And put the binding on. I love how it turned out....

Here is a sideways view of it hanging from our fence. Thank you to all my sew connected 3 group for making the blocks for me. I can't wait to use it to go on picnics with my family.

Today... I finished my mini "Be Creative" quilt. ( wall hanging ). People have asked where to get the pattern. It is a Lizzie B Crea8ive pattern. They have a lot of really cute patterns... your going to go crazy over them. I think I will probably end up hanging this one over my fireplace in our living room. My husband and I are both artsy creative people.

My 2 children are pretty artsy and creative too. They both LOVE to draw.

up and running

With a lot of help from other bloggers and the manual, my husband and I finally got the grace frame and machine up and running.... Oh my goodness it's a lot of work to get the quilt on the frame, but once it's on, it is pretty fun quilting.

Here are some of my first stitches, don't look too close... I am still learning and practicing, but this is just a picnic quilt that is going to be lying on the ground one day anyway. I can't wait to unroll the quilt from the rod to see what the whole thing will look like.

Happy 4th of July

We were suppost to go camping and I am so bummed that we didn't. But the bus broke down on I-95 very close to our house. So no camping this weekend, I am having camping withdrawal.

I am getting so sewing done, but first..... does anyone know how to work this thing?.. It is from The Grace Company. I want to quilt my picnic quilt bad on it, but the directions are so confusing to me. If you have one please let me know. I would love to chat with you.

I got half of a sewconnected 3 block done. It's a string block, so much fun to do. And it's for Darci of stitches and scissors.

Here is progress on my mini 'Be Creative' quilt.

And here is my mini camper quit hung on our wall. I just love how this turned out.

Happy 4th of July to all my American bloggers and friends.
ps, I did finially get the elastic in my son's PJ pants I was making him too. Yeah
