Inspired By A Tree

Here is the tree I love, the one I was talking about in this post. I still don't know what it is. I was thinking it was some kind of Birch because the bark is peeling. My dad says it may be a Silver Leaf Maple. He's only see this one picture of it that I sent to him. I've googled both and I can't find another tree that looks like it.

I love the colors. The silver / gray / green leaves. And the gray tree trunk. You can really tell the color different with it in front of these two other trees.

And a little close up of it. :o) Anyway, this is the tree that inspired my colors for my Farmer's Wife Quilt A-Long quilt. But I am adding a bit of orange to it because it's my favorite color. And I now think that all my quilts need a bit of orange in them.

Block #5 ~ Bat Wing

Block #6 Big Dipper

All together now~~ with Basil's tail in the picture. (and the basket handle still missing)

And can you please tell my how insane this block is, #7 Birds in the Air?! These blocks are 6 1/2 inches unfinished and there are 40 pieces in this Birds in the Air block. Yes, I am a little scared to do this one, but it is next.

Wish me luck.

I vote some kind of birch, since the bark looks white. Don't let the number of pieces scare you - you can do it! :-)

You can do block 7, I was thinking about making the HST a bit larger and then cutting them down to the right size. Good luck, I am here for moral support if needed.

Thank you for sharing your colour inspiration, I love the colours you have chosen, now I understand how you got there. Good luck with the block, I am making bigger hsts for the tiny ones and trimming them to size, which works well for me.
