The black out line is a black fabric pin. 
They are machine appliqued on.
I used a dinosaur coloring book for the patterns. I really like how they are turning out so far. I still need to put them together and add them to the quilt top. 
They are going to be used in the row robin I am working on

Those are really cool looking. You used all one print to make the dinosaurs but lightened some areas with white paint?
