color catchers

I am starting early and getting my fabric ready for my 'sew connected 3' group. I usually don't wash my fabric unless I am going to be wearing it after I've made something out of it. But since my sew connected 3 quilt is going to be a "picnic" quilt it will probably get washed a lot. I decided to pre wash my fabric.
And I am so happy I did. I don't know if you 've used "color catchers" before. ( I use them for all loads of laundry). They are great. They catch the color that comes out of the fabric so it doesn't go onto other fabrics. This photo is the color catchers after I washed them with my fabric. The white one there is to show you how white it was before I put them in the wash. :o)

I have used them too. I have a friend who uses an old white washcloth for this purpose. I can't remember what she does to make it usable again after it's soaked up color but she does it.

I just tried these a couple of months ago on some tiedyed fabric I made. I liked them so much, I got a package to bring with me to Belgium, but I did see them in the stores here too. :)

I love the fabrics you have picked out. I use the color catcher things when I wash a quilt for the first time and it works really well.

Holy smokes! I've never used them. I had no idea! I'll definitely be picking some of these up, if anything just to use when I wash my fabric. Thanks so much!
