Christmas traditions ( no sewing )

Don't get me wrong, I have been sewing. But this blog post is not about sewing. ( SHOCK and wow. ) We go get our real Christmas tree every year in our bus "Rusty". Rusty has no heat so that's always fun. It is an adventure every year, but we love it.

This year we started a new tradition that is the cutest. We got an "elf on the shelf". Jonah named him "Larry". We even registered his name at the North Pole today. Larry watches the kids all day to make sure they are being good, then at night he flies to the North Pole to report to Santa. Every morning Larry is in a different spot in the house and Jonah or Shelby gets to find him.

I love watching Christmas movies. I've been watching the Hallmark channel and Lifetime non-stop. Last night while my husband and I were in bed watching a Christmas movie and eating popcorn , the dogs all gathered around hoping to get some. Yes, they did get popcorn. They are spoiled rotten. They all actually got a bath today, so they aren't real happy with me right now.
Back to Christmas movies, there is a cute one coming on tonight called "12 men of Christmas" on Lifetime.
The kids do an advent calendar too. I just love advent calendars, it's just a little gift every day. What are some of your Christmas traditions? I would love to hear about them.

I do believe I should really start a new tradition too--but first I have to find me a 'puppy dog" who likes popcorn!!!!!

I sure like that elf on a shelf tradition! one of our traditions is for me to wrap the gifts for the kids and give them "fake" names. ONe year they may be all disney characters...so instead of shaking their gifts...they try to figure out what character they are.

The Elf of the Shelf is a cute tradition. Your first photo reminds me of one of mine from a couple years ago - http://picasaweb.google.com/helixblue/GettingAChristmasTree#5146272581057299234

Happy Holidays!

Most of our traditions come on Christmas day. Handel's Messiah, find the pickle to win money, cookies!, a clementine in the stocking, etc.

i love christmas.
