pencil roll

I have been making pencil rolls / pen rolls for Christmas. They are so fun to make and really easy. I think they turned out great. Hope the nieces and nephews like them.

working on Eben's quilt

I just finished quilting Eben's quilt. Here is a picture of the back. It is also made of Eben's clothes. The black square is part of his motorcycle jacket. All is needed is the boarder now.

Eben's quilt

I've made 9 blocks so far. This is a quilt I am making for Eben's dad and mom. He died too young. Age 27. The quilt is made with Eben's clothes.

Beetle quilt is finished

I finally finished the beetle/bug quilt. I think I started it in June 2oo7. It is a costume order for a couple who collect the real thing, VW beetles. I like how it turned out. My favorite is the pink/orange convertible on the left.

Measurements: 36 X 41 1/2 ins.

Yo-yos

We went to a cookout this weekend and I had to have something to do on the 3 hour trip. So I made yo-yos. I want to make a Christmas garland to go over the mantel. I have a long way to go.

travel pillow

I made another pillow case for my travel pillow. I sleep with it every night and travel with it. Love this Heather Ross fabric.

Live Earth

I put boarders on the beetle quilt while watching "Live Earth" today. It's looking really cute. Now I need to go out and buy some batting, but not today. It's 92 degrees out there.

another collection

Another collection, but not sewing related. This is most of my VW collection. The "cat in the hat" is my newest one. I got it today from a guy on the next street. He owns a VW bus too.

sewing machine cover #2

I finally got around to making a sewing machine cover for my Kenmore. I still love that machine, even though I don't use it much anymore. The fabric is line and Heather Ross Gnome cotton. Tied with ric rac.

Farmer's Market

We went to the farms market yesterday. I loved it, it was the first time I had been and I will be going there again. Here is a picture of some veggies/fruit I got. I've already eaten half of the black berries. I also got snap beans, but they are cooking on the stove.

Lit Jo found a rock there and called it his treasure. When we got home he wanted to paint it, so he did. Blue with yellow dots. :o)

split window

I appliqued a split window bus on an "old navy" T - shirt today. I think it turned out pretty cute. I love the browns. I am going to put it on e-bay and see how it does.

shark

Jonah was bugging me yesterday , while I was trying to finish my halter top, to make him a shark. I promised him today that I would. Here is "shark". That's what he named him. LOL

Cabo Halter

I had never made a top before. I saw this so cute pattern by "Amy Butler" in my local quilt shop and thought I'd give it a try. I picked out some pretty blue and brown fabric. ( blues and brown seem to be my favorite right now).

It took awhile to figure the pattern out because I had no clue what I was doing, but it was a lot of fun. I love working with fabric and sewing.

I got to use my "zipper foot" for the first time. OH....that's how that thing works. LOL . I can't wait to wear it out. I am even thinking of making another one.

collecting

I have collected 2 of these toy sewing machines. I think they are the cutest things. I was a child in the 70's and I remember coloring in my Holly Hobby coloring book.

Also my pincushion collections. I love that there are so many different and cute pincushions out there. The blue chicken was my mom's pincushion from when I was little, I remember her using it. The little cupcake/icecream cone pincushion on the right is from a swap. A sweet lady from Canada sent it to me.

Here is my sewing machine cover I made, I think 2 weeks ago. I used my favorite Heather Ross fabric with fish on it. I need to make another one for the other sewing machine.

Beetle quilt

I figured out how to post a photo. Here is the beetle quilt I am working on. It is for a couple that I don't even know. She e-mailed me and said she was interested in a beetle quilt. I think it's turning out cute. I think my favorite is the pink/orange convertible on the left.

So new to me

This blog thing is all so new to me. I am trying to figure things out and I am having a hard time. What are all these symbols and names? Oh my. I love to post pictures, but don't know how yet. I guess I will learn over time and get better at this. When I do figure this out , I will post a pic of the very cute beelte quilt I am working on.
