surgery and progress

My baby boy had his tonsiles and adnoids out and tubes put in his ears Monday. He is doing great.

Progress is.... I finished my 1st block .... in the BOM I am doing.

Here is the progress on my "shop" challange quilt. The black sashing it lying there so I can just see what it will look like.

And here is my row robin so far.... I think I am done with it for now.

Dream Catcher done

The "dream catcher" quilt top is done. It is a shop sample , so I may have to take a better picture of it when it is hanging up. It is huge. The fabrics are batiks in soft colors. It looks "beachy" Which is right up my ally. " The shop", Quilting Adventures is going to be selling the kits for it. ( There is a link to the shop in my side bar.)

And my 2nd tea towel arrived. Yeah. Here is my stitching for it. Her theme is a 50's kitchen theme.

Thank you everyone for the kind words you have sent me. I went to a SWAP class last night and laughed and giggled so I am feeling a bit better today.

making of a Jelly Fish

I got a copy of a Jelly fish off of google images for Jonah's clown fish quilt. I figured I would add a jelly fish to the corner. ( excuse the notes written on the paper)
I used a pink java blender and cut out in the shape of the top of the jelly fish, then took my Setacolor transparent paints. ( you can get these at the quilt shop, www.quiltingadventures.com). And I painted the darker pinks and blues in. I sewed him down, then cut up yarn for the tenticles. The yarn is a hand-dyed yarn which I got for the shop too. But the company is Hand dyed hobbies. (www.handdyedhobbies.com)
I glued my yarn tenticles down with Roxanne's glue-baste-it and couch sewed them down. Here is what the little guy turned out to look like. I am hoping he looks kind of real. Not sure if I should add more critters or if I should leave it alone.
My top clown fish isn't done yet.

lots of embroidery, yah

I finished embroidering my "What Color is Spring?" wall hanging. I started to hand quilt it, but now I remember that I don't like to hand quilt, so I think I am going to finish it up by machine quilting it.

Here are a few more detailed pics of the embroidery. The pattern is from "Bareroots". www.bareroots.com.

Here is my new project from Bareroots... It's called "Christmas Time is Coming". It is an avent calendar so I am hoping to get it done by December. Hahaha or Hohoho.
I've copied a few of the days and started to color them in with crayon. This has been really fun. I've done 5 while watching the Olympics. After you color them in, you iron them to get the excess crayon off, (not directly with the iron, you need to put a cloth in between the iron and the crayon.) Then you embroider them, the really fun part. I'll be posting progress here. :o)

I am also still machine quilting my "strips n curves" quilt. I bought some machine quilting gloves the other day from " Quilting Adventures". (www.quiltingadventures.com). I am hoping it will make the quilting a little easyer. I haven't tried them yet though, I've been waiting for this headache to go away. It's just more relaxing to embroider in bed right now.

quilting

I finially got my strips N curves backed and basted. And now I am quilting it. Yeah. It will take forever. But I love how the quilt top turned out, so I am deteremined to finish one day.

I only got one square done today. It just wears me out. And my stitches still aren't good. Probably by the end of the quilt they will improve. LOL
Jonah says he wants a jelly fish on his "clown fish" quilt. So I got the one off of the internet. I think I may put him in the upper right corner .... This is still a WIP.
I am going to eat now and get ready for "Project Runway". LOVE that show!!!

what I've been up to

I have been working on my embroidery wall hanging. I have one and 1/2 rows to go. I just can't wait to hang it in my living room. It is turning out pretty cute. Last night I got to watch the new season of "Project Runway" while stitching.

I have also been working on my strips n curves. Two more outer boarders to add. I can't decide whether to machine quilt it or hand quilt it. I would love to hand quilt it, but all my free (sewing machine) time goes into embroidering.
This is my fat pug, Weasel thinking that my quilt top is her bed.
Our "young people sit and stitch" group. Stitching and laughing. This is Krystal and Pheobe acting silly. The sit and stitch group is at Quilting Adventures in Richmond Va. On the 3rd Tuesday of every month, 6-8pm. Come join us if your in the area!!!!

sewing

I got some sewing time in, yeah!!! I finially got around to making myself a purse/bag. A real one. The pattern is "New Girl" by Tammy Tadd Designs. Please be kind, this is my first real bag that I have made. I've have used it twice now and really like it.
Another view...on me.
I sewed up 7 more blocks for the dream catcher top too.
Thank you everyone for your comments from my last post. You are so sweet out there in blog land.

one fish, two fish

I finished some fish for work. They are from Melly & me pattern. I am making another set for Jonah. They will be a little more fishy in color.
And I finially got to work on my "clown fish" quilt this week. Still a work in progress. But I am loving it. Jonah wants it hung in his room when I am done.

today

My 2 beautiful children.

I worked on my lession for my "color theory" class. I had trouble with purple. I just seems too dark to me.

And coming along....slowly.... the Dream Catcher quilt top. I am trying to get 2 blocks a day done, but I've missed a few days. This thing is huge. Aren't the fabrics beautiful?!

a day of sewing

Pinning "Strips 'n Curves". It takes alot of pins to get that curve to stay. It was fun to see how they turned out.

I have finished cutting and sewing the strips. I need to figure out how to lay them out and figure out a boarder. But enough for today. I am going to put it aside and work on something else. ( that is one of my dogs sleeping beside the quilt. )
I did take Jonah to the park today. And while he ran around, I stitched. :o) The time flew by. The weather was beautiful.

sneak peak

This is a Father's day gift for my dad. He is never on the computer so I can post it and not worry. The top is done, I will be taking it to "the quilter" Monday to have little sea shells quilts all over it. The fabric is Anna Griffin for Windham Fabrics, The Alix Collection. And I got it at Quilting Adventures, of course.

still working on it.

A wall hanging I have been working on for awhile. But I love it. I love to embroider, so it's been fun and fun to pick out the colors. It is a pattern from "Barefoot". Very cute things on there site.
